The Invisible
Game
How do we make watching HADO as exciting as playing it?
HADO creates a distinctive spectator problem: players see and respond to digital projectiles, shields and strategy that remain largely invisible to the naked eye. This two-phase project uses Shanghai Arena EYE testing and the HADO World Cup to investigate that perceptual gap and how it might be progressively closed.
Perceptual Asymmetry
The gap between the competitive reality available to the player and the reality available to the spectator.

Designing
Spectatorship
Treating spectatorship as something designed across systems, platforms and organisations.
A spectator-centred framework developed from research into the ePremier League Finals, examining how temporal, structural, representational, system and distribution choices shape digitally mediated events.

Augmented
Spectator
Experience
Moving sports spectatorship from passive viewing towards active participation.
Collaborative work exploring AR visualisation and interaction systems for sport, asking how additional layers of information and interaction can enhance what spectators are able to see and do.
Production technology / Emerging research
Virtual
Production
What changes when the game engine becomes an organising technology for production?
Research into virtual production workflows, post-production and the influence of real-time game-engine infrastructures on creative decisions, production practice and aesthetics.
